Sun and Berries

Hello my Friends,

I hope you have been keeping safe and well. Home is doing it's usual and for me, well, home is beautiful. Hummingbirds visit the feeder, bees buzz around the wild flowers, squirrels and birds squeak, cheep and chirp. For my neck of the woods in the Borealis forest we have had the usual patterns of weather, rain and sunshine, hot and cool days. Tis berry picking season so seeing a lot of cars here and there on sides of the highways with people wearing all sorts of hats and baskets or buckets. It's a nice sight.

Once again we are alert for 'Bear' sightings in the community. I hope the younger parents are encouraging their children to stay in numbers and not out n about alone. Bears just sort of pop out of nowhere around here. I think they are as surprised to be where they are as whoever happens to be around.

I wouldn't mind going out berry picking but get a lot of strange expressions at the idea. What is wrong with going into the woods to pick berries? These younger women around here have no idea of the pleasure. Am I the only one who can appreciate such a idea? they would prefer to go to town and buy it off the shelf rather than pick their own for free, enjoy the scenery, company of friends, a beautiful day. Strange huh? or is it just me? :)

Alright, I know you cannot stay as duty calls so will close with my latest findings and hope you enjoy them.

Valentine's Day

Hello Sweet Friends,

I received your email and absolutely love the virtual roses. Valentine's Day is coming upon us quick and not sure what I will get. I would love to try and plant some sort of rose garden but hear it requires specific soil and care, etc. I am not sure they would survive in my area. If I had my own way, I would have a yard full of the wild roses. They smell so absolutely heavenly and beautiful to gaze upon but not sure if I can transplant or grow any from seed. A project to add to my *To Do* list which is getting pretty long now.

I have planted some Giant sunflowers seeds and seeing the beginnings of growth. I love watching how the birds flock around for the seeds in fall. They also grow so tall and the flowers are the size of dinner plates. They are beautiful and maybe one day you will get to see them in person. Now that would be nice.

I have hung a peanut butter-birdseed ball outside in a onion bag. The chickadee's absolutely love them and got to laugh when I saw a Blue Jay come along scattering the smaller birds. We still have snow and chilly temperatures around here but the days are slowly getting warmer. I love the beginnings of Spring and promise of something new. What are your thoughts?

The time to unpack, review and clean my spring and summer clothes and pack up my winter clothes will arrive soon. Trying to decide which clothes to toss, donate and replace can be tough, did you realize? probably more difficult for a woman since we always or near that, buy clothes that look good on us and are pretty. Separation anxiety may set upon a few of us on that idea.

Alright, I know that I can not keep bubbling on and on till next year, yet, but will leave these chuckles for you, hope you find them worthy of a chuckle or two. :)

Winter Passing

Hello dear friends,

I hope you are well and the weather is nice there too. It has been warming up around here and silly as it sounds, I hope the snow doesn't melt anytime soon. A early snow melt can lead to pro-longed forest fire season. The soil will dry up too quickly which is not a favorite scene. Mind you, neither is wet grounds for breeding mosquitoes. Can we ever win that battle?

I called home to wish my brother a Happy Birthday and my mom's is coming up soon too. We got around to talking about the fashion channel. My mother thinks there were some seriously strange enough fashions for Lady GaGa that she may enjoy. I am not sure and never really paid attention except to some of her music. I will have to check out this strange fashion sense my mother talks about.

A few birds finally discovered my bird feeders. I love hearing the sounds of birds in the early hours of the morning. Usually in early spring we can hear and see Woodpeckers around or nearby and squirrels or chipmunks running around in pairs. It's a beautiful sight and sounds to observe and hear while sipping some espresso coffee. Now, if only the nosey neighbors would stop staring.

I know you must run as duty calls. I will leave my usual latest finds and hopefully leave you a few chuckles --> Jokes and a Riddle

- Where do you get virgin wool from? Ugly sheep.
- Anybody hear about the thieves who stole a calendar? They both got six months each.

I hope you have a wonderful day, evening, night. Please take great care and stay safe. :)

Fresh New Year

Hello my Friends,

I hope the holidays have been good to you. I did tell Santa that you guys have been awesome. I believe mine went well with the gifts I managed to gather since August. I must say though the weather has dropped to some downright chilly cold snaps. Our power even went out! imagine that. Not a good thing when heat is all electrical. I think it's because some trees may be overloaded with snow and leaning on the lines.

I been having trouble with the doors. They keep freezing shut! I couldn't get out the front door so had to go out the back door and stumble through three feet of snow! I had to charge the door which of course flies open along with me flying through the door and thumped on the floor. I spent the day falling into gales of laughter when recalling that experience. Also had to replace the doorknob before my floor dive, brrr!

A house down the road has a wind turbine and it looks so cute. I think it's just the distance from the road while driving by that makes it look so miniature. I am so tempted to go to the owners house and ask a million and one questions. I wouldn't mind getting one but would like to know first hand the experience considering our location and unpredictable weather patterns. It should prove to be a interesting story after winter, don't you think?

One of my sons asked me to help him get some short stories published. This should prove to be another interesting experience for both him and I. Wow, never imagined trying my hand at submitting short fiction. I guess my new year is off to quite a start for new and fresh.

Anyways, I know you must run as duty calls. I found a few items that will hopefully make you chuckle --> Jokes and a Tongue Twister

-The quack quit asking quick questions.

-Girls are like phones. We love to be held, talked too but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected!

-Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks

-Borrow money from a pessimist, they don't expect it back.

-Energizer Bunny arrested and charged with battery.

I hope you take care, have a great week and stay safe.

Joys of a Dogs Life

Hello my Schnookums,

I hope you are well this Friday evening. Wow, that flu shot knocked me out and time sure has passed since I been here. Shame on me! sorry darlins. I went out and fed my dogs but this other dog, bigger than my dogs, came along trying to eat their food. I was wondering what the ruckus was about and ran out in my socks. Thankfully there's only frost outside and no snow yet. Anyways, this dog was not afraid of me so I had to run and quickly grab a rake and threw it at him to chase him away. My poor dog was so scared he wouldn't eat. The other one was alright, she kept on eating.

I really don't like dogs that behave like that. Not afraid of us humans when we are supposed to be the masters, well, maybe not his master but hope you know what I'm talking about. Do you think the Dog Whisperer would come out to teach people about dogs running in packs?

I already told you about tripping on that wire. No idea how I get myself tangled in a wire but it did cut around my ankle. Thank goodness that the tetanus shot lasts for ten years. I was worried that I would have to get flu shot and a tetanus but no, I was saved from further pricklings. Who enjoys being a pin cushion? I am very good at ensuring I get rest and healthy nutrition when sick but my sons still don't like it. Still can't get over getting both the H1N1 and regular flu shot at the same time. Strange, don't you think?

I love checking out this website, Threadbanger dot com. They have awesome recycle, deconstruct and reconstruct videos. It's great! I use to watch them on television and didn't realize they had moved to the internet but it's great. I still get to fetch some ideas on *recycling* clothes. Out with the old and in with something new, original and one-of-a-kind.

I put a sweater on the dogs again. Really don't know why I keep trying since I found them all torn to shreds this morning. They are kind of on the fat side and have real thick fur. I guess I should be glad for that little bit huh?

I know you must run and tend to your duties. I will leave this ;

Real 911 Calls

BELIEVE it or not , These are REAL 911 Calls!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is your emergency? Caller: Someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich . Dispatcher: Excuse me? Caller: I made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when I came back from the bathroom, someone had taken a bite out of it. Dispatcher: Was anything else taken? Caller: No, but this has happened to me before and I’m sick and tired of it!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency? Caller: I’m trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn’t have an eleven on it. Dispatcher: This is nine eleven. Caller: I thought you just said it was nine-one-one Dispatcher: Yes, ma’am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing. Caller: Honey, I may be old, but I’m not stupid.

My Personal Favorite!!! Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What’s the nature of your emergency? Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart Dispatcher: Is this her first child? Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

And the winner is……….

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 Caller: Yeah, I’m having trouble breathing. I’m all out of breath. Darn….I think I’m going to pass out. Dispatcher: Sir, where are you calling from? Caller: I’m at a pay phone. North and Foster. Dispatcher: ! Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic? Caller: No Dispatcher: What were you doing before you started having trouble breathing? Caller: Running from the Police.

I hope you're smiling and know that I keep you in my prayers. Please take care and stay safe, k.

Remembrance Day

Hello my Darlins,

I hope you are well. It has been a sad time here with that incident at Ft Hood and just breaks my heart that such acts occur. You already have enough to worry about and do not need to worry about home. Well, I am sure our top leaders will make changes to ensure there's no repeat.

Remembrance Day is tomorrow and all the Poppies I see is such a beautiful sight and makes me feel so proud. I keep mine from the last few years, pinned around the house so I guess you can imagine, I have a bouquet. I'll be attending a ceremony and my son has been asked to do Flag duty again. We are proud and they have great admiration for the duties of our Soldiers, both past and present and includes you.

I came across a article about the Navajo Code Talkers. They are looking to set up a museum about these soldiers in particular and their activities. I was surprised with learning about them not having been aware of how much they had helped. They upheld the directive to not discuss their duties. Amazing, don't you think?

I found it rather poignant and believe they should get full support and approval of their project, for their contribution. They are for now, literally, living historic figures! and a novel chapter of WW II history. It would be curious, to find out what the soldiers children have to say about their fathers, who worked with a Code talker, don't you think? they will be participating in the Veterans Day parade in NYC, well, a few of them. I bet they will look fantastic!

Come to think of it. My own father and late uncle had served in Korea and they would not disucss this topic either. My sons are part of a family that has kept a family history from their first arriving ancestor to Canada. They have reunions also but there are two branches in the family and the Native American side feel uncomfortable even though they are also in the family album. Yes, they included my picture also.

How time flies when we are having fun and I must be running over time for you. Sorry my darlins. I will leave this for you and includes commentary --> Actual Newspaper Headlines

Cuddling Season

Hello My Darlings,

I hope you are good this day. Not sure how the weather is for you but here in the Borealis forest the trees are stripping fast, hardly saw any colors, winds are getting chillier and even my dogs are getting thicker coats, not sure about the hair ball.

I will have to stock up on my wild bird seed for the winter another item for my To-do list, notice that? I also have to stock up on some Halloween candy quickly and some sort of costume to greet the kids at the door. My one son wants to dress as a nurse and the other one is too busy laughing. I think a fancy chef hat and mustachio of some sort will work just fine for him rather than try to make a M&M costume.

I perused through some Youtube videos to learn how to make this, that, and the other thing. Whipping up some sort of halloween costume shouldn't be too hard. Still not sure I want to style my hair into some sort of huge, fluffy, poofy ball. Will I have knots and tangles I won't be able to get out? I really don't want to terrify the children that come to the door either.

I don't even have any halloween decorations up yet! usually I have spiders (ewww!) ghosts, black cats and pumpkins around. One year the ghosts and spiders were hanging too close to the door and they would get tangled up around people at the door. A sight indeed, really. Another addition to my to-do list.

Doesn't it seem as if one holiday comes right up after another? About a week after my bithday I will hang Christmas decorations. One set of decorations come down and another set of holiday decorations goes up. I enjoy the smiles from the kids even my overgrown boys. It's not the work that makes holidays so special but the people involved and the give and take. It's a special moment that should be enjoyed, don't you think? not to mention that I really do enjoy the decorating. :)

I absolutely love that move, Bringing Down the House and that dance scene with Steve Martin all dressed hip hop? just awesome. I should learn how to do some hip hop moves and not just basic dance steps. Maybe you and I will get the chance to dance together irregardless if you have two left feet. Dancing is a awesome cardiovascular work out for the body too.

Well, I know you can not stay long as duty calls. I found this and hopefully will leave a chuckle ---> Why was the energizer bunny arrested? He was charged with battery. I hope you take great care and please stay safe.

XOXOXO
